Description:
The visitor is attracted to the exhibit by two alternating
backlit images accompanied and an occaisional prompting
audio soundtrack. They sit down on the bench, lean back
into the cushioned and inclined backrest and place their
feet up onto the press bar. As they press on the bar a
vertical led bargraph begins to light up. The harder they
press the higher the lights rise. At certain points on
the light bar backlit images are turned on relating to
the amount of force they are currently pressing. Exhausted,
they realize their strenght compared to that of a football
player and stop pressing. Their friends or other family
members join our visitor on the bench, teaming up to press
the bar following the same sequence, possibly driving
it to the top.
The control system is microprocessor based. It reads and
deciphers the force input information. It also drives
the light bar electronics, switches the backlight circuits
on and off and initiates the audio sequences. The program
resides on EPROM and boots up instantly on power up.
