Visitor
Experience:
This exciting collection of exhibits unlocks the mysteries
of the universe and demonstrates the laws of nature through
seven fully-interactive, bilingual stand-alone exhibits.
Mystus brought years of experience to bear on these multidimensional
interactive exhibits, which blend interactive software
with customized mechanical models to create a truly hands-on
visitor experience. Four of the exhibits demonstrate natural
phenomena such as Earth-Sun geometry, photosynthesis,
the changing structure of elements, and reverse osmosis
using mechanical models with motorized components. The
final three exhibits make sense of Nano-technology, analogue
versus digital technologies, and explain "how computers
work" through integrated programming and software-based
technology-themed displays. Visitors control miniature
satellites and relay towers using hand-held sliders, generate
fibre-optic transmissions using a customized laser bar,
and ride a bicycle to power moving components. Given the
high level of activity and interactivity, exhibits were
customized with extensively tested, high quality components
that are built to last. The result is a seamless exhibit
experience that speaks to a variety of age groups, language
needs, and cultural backgrounds.
Client
Requirements
Our clients required exhibits on specific topics that
did not already exist in other science centers. We were
asked us to propose 10 exhibit concepts, 7 of which were
accepted. The exhibits required concept interpretation,
subsequent exhibit concept development, turn-key exhibits
with working components, and full production including
prototyping, exhibit housing, design, fabrication.
Mystus
Expertise:
The exhibits feature a wide range of Mystus products and
services including concept development, prototyping, design,
and full production including housing, on screen graphics,
programming, and electronics.
Unique
Features:
Two of the seven exhibits involved a unique synthesis
of PC computer and external custom electronics.
Project
Challenges:
The nature of this project required extensive prototype
refinement to fine-tune the phenomenon and the visitor
experience.
