Exhibit:
Interactive Wall Piano
Venue: Shania Twain Centre
Location: Timmins, Ontario, Canada
Date: June, 2001
Client: Lord Cultural Resources
Contributors: Mystus (active components), Lord
(housing, installation, coordination)
Visitor
Experience: The visitor touches one of the large notes
mounted on the wall and hears a note on a grand piano.
This is part of a room full of instruments that the visitor
can use.
Client
Requirements: A proximity sensing of an array of notes
on a large musical staff that when touched played the
corresponding note on a piano.
Mystus
Expertise: Mystus used a MIDI based synthesizer system
for playback of the notes. Custom Mystus electronics and
microprocessor technology converted the sensor information
into control codes for the audio player.
*Project
Challenges: Proximity sensing is a finicky business
and subject to easy interference. Against these odds,
Mystus developed a design that implemented the desired
visitor interaction.
