Project: 'Wind Energy' Exhibit
Venue: BC Hydro Visitor Centre
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Date: June, 2001
Client: BC Hydro
Contributors: Mystus Interactus (mechanical development, housing design)

In 'Wind Energy' the visitor can change the pitch, or angle of the blade, of a wind turbine to see the effects on 1) Amount of energy produced and 2) The startup wind speed requirement. Less energy is produced at a higher pitch but the turbine will operate in less wind. The visitor has control over the wind speed with a dial on the control panel. They can also switch several loads into the circuit to compare the amount of energy that different load types require. The pitch of the turbine is changed using a unique double shaft axle connected to two grips outside the cage.
