Earth Sun Geometry
Like Sun Energy, this exhibit models the day-night and seasonal
effects of the earth sun system. A camera on the globe views the
shadow of a pointer as if you were standing on the globe
yourself. On rotating the globe through a day the visitor sees
sunrise, sunset, early morning and late afternoon long shadows
and the short shadow brilliant noonday sun. And see the shadow
pattern change dramatically with the season. Now the challenge;
compare the fixed view of a shadow stick outside the museum (or
graphics of it for cloudier climates) with the globe shadow.
Match them up to tell the time and the season.
