Persistence
of vision in the human eye is demonstrated by scanning
an image through a single line of bright, fast-response
lights. During these eye movements, the image is effectively
wiped across the retina and the full image is perceived.
The goal of this exhibit was to create a display with
the above characteristics as well as the ability to
toggle into a "teach mode" to give visitors
a better sense of what is happening. Mystus achieved
the objective by creating a large array of lights
that could function in "single line" mode
to show the effect or in "full array" mode
to display the image in more detail.
